  • Stay on brand. (You want everything to look similar to the rest of your marketing materials such as social media platforms, website, print material, etc.)

  • Be mobile-responsive. Many people check email on their phone more often than on a computer.

  • Use an email template to keep your emails looking consistent over time.

  • Stay clean and concise. Get to the point quickly.

  • Avoid long text blocks and choose an easy-to-read font.

  • Use your header and pre-header text wisely to help get your message across even to people who may skim the email.

  • Simplicity is key! Utilize white space so that the viewer has an opportunity to “breathe” while they read your email. Minimalism goes a long way with email design.

  • Remember your call-to-action (CTA). If you want your reader to “read more” or “buy more,” for example, add a button to encourage following the link.
