One evening, I started the book The Success Principles by Jack Canfield.
The next morning, a friend asked me if I’d be interested in joining her to see Jack Canfield. Of course, I had to say yes. At the event, I took lots of notes and wanted to share some standouts with you. My hope is that they inspire you (and remind me).
Standout #1 – 100% Responsible
- “Take 100% responsibility for your life and your results.” –Jack Canfield
- Use your responses that you have control over wisely – your behavior, thoughts, beliefs, self-talk, and visual imagery.
- It’s not the event, issue or circumstance; it’s the meaning you give it.
- Anything you focus on, you get more of – so choose carefully.
Standout #2 – Your Purpose
This was a great exercise to develop a single statement about your purpose. Jack Canfield wrote a blog post about this, so you can do this too.
Standout #3 – Visualization
Here’s a great example of why visualization should be a part of your day …There were three groups working to improve their free-throws. One practiced for 30 minutes a day, the second didn’t practice at all, and the third visualized successful free-throws for 5 minutes a day. The results after 30 days? Group #1 improved by 24%, Group #2 showed no improvement, and Group #3 showed a 23% improvement. You can read more about visualization and this study here.
Standout #4 – Intention vs. Objective
Be very clear and frame your objective in a positive way with a date. Choose goals that inspire you, not expire you. An intention example: “I’d like to lose weight.” An objective example: “I will weigh ________ by May 31, 2019.”
