Over 10 years ago, I had no idea I wanted to get into graphic design. I knew I was creative but wasn’t sure where to go with that. It took some exploring, asking help from a college counselor, and then stumbling upon it to discover I really enjoy it.
Reflecting on the journey that led me to this career, I’ve found a new understanding to why I love it dearly. There is a sort of order to graphic design that accompanies the creativity. The balance of the two is something I found myself naturally good at.

It even shows up in my home and how I dress. I organize the things in each room, from placing certain colors together, matching it with furniture and decor, to putting certain items in my kitchen in order of importance within reach. Even in my outfits, I like placing contrast between a shirt and pants while matching it with a cool patterned scarf or shoes to make it cohesive. As you can see, in my personal life and in my work, all things have a place and are visually pleasing to me.
Once a design has balance, through layout, imagery, messaging, etc., a sense of accomplishment rushes over me. I’ve found it’s quite rewarding to see an idea come to life not only for myself but for the client. It may go without saying but having a client happy with your work is the best cherry on top!

I love creating and branding for small businesses, especially in the beginning. There’s nothing like helping others get their business off the ground through the creation of their logos and brands as they start their dream journey. When I can make a piece of art for a small business owner, balanced with creativity and order, I know I am providing them with a bit of soil to help their business grow!
There is definitely more to be said than a few paragraphs about why we choose the careers we do, yet I’d like to keep it short and sweet for you.
